Pastor Leads Congregation to Provide Easter Dinner for 300+ Families

While the adults walked away with boxes promising a delicious Sunday dinner for their families, Easter egg hunts were held for the kids.

The Rev. Toure Marshall, the church’s pastor, said the gathering was a success and hopefully one of many to come. “Today is kind of the prototype, a mix of fun, mentoring, food and community building,” Marshall said. “We hope to hold these more frequently because people need to eat every day.”

Principal Makes Progress in Atlanta Schools Closing the Achievement Gap

Dr. Andrew Lovett took on the challenge of turning around Atlanta’s Benteen Elementary School this year. Lovett studies the numbers.

“Our biggest struggle at Benteen is getting the achievement to go up,” Lovett said. “But what’s working in our favor is that we are doing really good at closing the achievement gap and making progress.”
