Top HBCU President Drives University Growth

Dr. Brian Johnson is a celebrated and sought after Professor and Administrator.

From 2014 to 2017, he served as the 7th President of Tuskegee University.

Dr. Johnson significantly reduced the institution’s long-term debt, moving the institution from annual operating deficits to annual budget surpluses based on audited financials.

Dr. Johnson attracted a diverse cadre of world-renowned professionals to speak, lecture, and engage with the students. Some of which included Phylicia Rashad, Derek Luke, ESPN CEO John Skipper, Tyler Perry, Roland Martin, NASA’s Dr. Mae Jemison, the Former First Lady of the United States of America Michelle Obama, and many others.

Not only did Dr. Johnson facilitate the SACSCOC regional accreditation warning’s removal by improving board governance and fiscal stability , but the same accreditation body approved his implementation of an online degree program contributing to increased access to higher education and distance learning.

Dr. Johnson’s academic leadership and ability to promote academic excellence was affirmed by several HNW alumni and families who gave multiple six-figure sized gifts to the University, and his leadership was affirmed by an increase in the number of students who enrolled at the University.
